Feminism. The idea that everyone is equal, regardless of sex, race, religion or sexuality. Feminism is the strongest foundation of any society. Without it, we'd crumble. We need feminism not only to remind women that we're strong and we have a voice, but to remind the men that try to silence us that we will be treated as equals and that we are not afraid. Women are vital to any functioning society. No, it's not because we can have the kids. It's simply because, just like men, we are functioning human beings living on earth. We have a voice, we have opinions, we have stuff to say. For years we've been silenced and ignored by men as if our voices don't mean anything. That is, until women started fighting for equality. When women began speaking up, the world was introduced to feminism. From then on we've have been gaining our rights and getting the opportunities we deserve. This is why feminism is so important. Without it, every woman and girl would still be struggling with the effects from the outdated ideas of the past. Feminists look inequality and injustice in the eye every day and say not today. We fight against body shaming, rape culture, sexism, homophobia, racism, and every single form of injustice there is. That's why it's so important. Because feminism gives us the voice to fight for those who can't.
